Main Purpose of Job

This position reports to an Agency Budget Specialist Supervisor and will provide accounting and budget support for the Budget, Accounting and Revenue (B.A.R) Division, Office of Finance Medical Care Programs.  The incumbent may be responsible for: invoice processing and tracking, performing analysis of purchase requisitions for available funding, and supporting for budget preparation, quarterly projections, and expenditure management plans. In addition, this position assists in the preparation of fiscal notes, budget initiatives, and other special accounting and/or budgetary assignments required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three years of experience in budget preparation, presentation and execution.

Note:

1. Candidates may substitute graduate education in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, political science or public administration at a rate of 30 semester hours for one year of required experience.  

2. Candidates may substitute additional experience as defined above on a year for year basis for the required education.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Budget Officer classifications or Financial Management specialty codes in the Budgeting field of work on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must possess one year experience working with general ledger software.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates should possess the ability to read, interpret and apply regulations, good customer service skills and possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, R*Stars, and FMIS. Candidates should also possess the ability to multi-task and complete assignments accurately and within established timelines.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
