POSITION DUTIES

The incumbent of this position will assign and review work of lower level operators.  Duties include: overseeing the operation of the computer system; troubleshooting computer operations problems; reporting malfunctions to maintenance personnel; following daily production schedules and making schedule adjustments as needed.  This position will require working with Tivoli Workload Scheduler (OPC) when setting up production work. Additionally, the incumbent will become a Member of the Computer Operations Disaster Recovery Team, where they will test and maintain Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Operations Plans for the Computer Operations Unit.  Other duties include; participating in disaster recovery testing to ensure that the Computer Operations environment is restored and available for customers at an alternate site.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years of experience operating multipurpose, multi-tasking computer systems.

Notes:

1. Experience operating computer equipment for the purpose of data entry, word processing or maintaining information may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Fifteen credit hours in computer operation at an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Computer System Operations classifications or Computer System Operations specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of experience operating multipurpose, multi-tasking computer systems in a mainframe environment.

Associate's Degree in Information Technology

EXAMINATION PROCESS

Qualifying applicants are subject to an oral interview.   Prior to appointment, the employee must successfully undergo a comprehensive background investigation including a review of criminal, MVA and tax records; and determination of legal authorization to work in the United States or under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.  Upon initial appointment OR promotion to a position in the State Personnel Management System, an employee is required to serve an initial six month probationary period.  This probationary period may be extended an additional six months under certain circumstances at the discretion of the appointing authority.
