Main Purpose of Job
This position will be responsible for implementation of program budget and survey activities for all Forensic Laboratory license and permit programs licensed and certified by the State. This position will ensure an efficient, effective, and well coordinated system of inspections, complaint investigations, documentation of findings, and recommended enforcement actions regarding forensic laboratory regulations. This position is an integral part of the mission of the Office of Health Care Quality (OHCQ), which is to protect the safety of the citizens of Maryland and to ensure there is public confidence in the forensic laboratories through regulatory, enforcement, and educational activities. This position will also, with supervision, take an active role in determining and implementing regulations and policies governing Maryland forensic laboratories. This position will be required to make technical decisions and recommendations in the regulation of specific forensic laboratory examinations/analyses. This position will also analyze regulations and agency decisions with knowledge of specific forensic laboratory categories and procedures and interact with forensic laboratory directors and forensic laboratory surveyors to respond to specific questions about forensic laboratory examinations/analyses and their procedures.
