POSITION DUTIES
DHCD has an immediate opening for an Administrative Aide in its Division of Neighborhood Revitalization. This individual must be a highly organized, customer oriented, self-motivated, team player, with secretarial/administrative experience. The Administrative Aide will primarily serve as receptionist and office manager for Neighborhood Revitalization’s New Carrollton office. This individual will provide administrative support to office staff, receive and direct visitors and clients, compose correspondence and provide information in response to inquiries. This position is responsible for telephone coverage, office inventory, database maintenance, procurement of supplies and maintenance of office equipment. This position also assists in preparing for trainings, meetings, and conferences. The incumbent must have a professional demeanor, great interpersonal skills, and be self-motivated. The position will operate primarily out of the Division’s office in Crownsville which will move to New Carrollton in spring 2015.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three years performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.
Notes:
1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of one year’s experience working in a government or nonprofit setting preferred.
- Candidates should have excellent software and communications skills. Especially desirable is experience in coordinating calendars in Google Mail and Outlook, working with Gmail and Google Drive, and experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
- Experience working with grant programs highly desirable.
