Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of the position will be to supervise the general operation of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) - Laboratories Administration Warehouse. The incumbent will be directly responsible for developing work methods, schedules, and procedures. This position will also oversee the process for proper receipt, storage, and issuance of supplies. The position will also oversee the areas of shipping and receiving, delivery, maintenance of labs essential supply store and supply inventory while developing safe and efficient storage and delivery methods. This employee will be responsible for maintaining and controlling FMIS warehouse inventory records, purchase order logs, and assigning purchase order numbers for corporate purchasing card orders for the various divisions within Laboratories Administration.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of required education.

2. Candidates may substitute 90 credit hours at an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate will have:

  • working knowledge of FMIS and PC proficiency
  • the ability to lift up to a least 50lbs.
  • working knowledge of inventory management systems/warehousing, logistics operations 
  • demonstrated ability to understand basic mathematical concepts or calculations
  • demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and mentor employees
  • supervisory experience working in a warehouse environment

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
