Introduction

This is a Position Specific Recruitment for the Dorchester County Department of Social Services.  You must currently work for the Dorchester County Department of Social Services and meet the minimum education and experience requirements to be approved for this recruitment.

Main Purpose of Job

This position serves as a leadworker/casemanager for the Office of Home Energy Programs (OHEP); in the absence of supervisor, directly supervises the work activities of staff responsible for eligibility determinations in the OHEP Program,which consists of program eligibility for EUSP (Electric Universal Service Program (EUSP) and the Maryland Energy Assistance Program (MEAP); and ensures referrals for weatherization services are sent to the Department of Housing and Community Development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above at the rate of one year experience for 30 credit hours of education for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

1. Two years of experience determining customer eligibility for governmental assistance     programs

2. Excellent oral and written communications skills

3. Strong customer service skills

4. Strong organizational skills

5. Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Limited to current employees working at the Dorchester County Department of Social Services.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.  Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
