LOCATION OF POSITION

Baltimore City (500 North Calvert Street)

Main Purpose of Job

This position will serve as a liaison, in an assistant capacity, from the Commissioner's Office to the various boards and commissions within the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing to assist with developing a comprehensive strategy to improve the quality of the Division's complaint resolution services provided to consumers, licensees, and other stakeholders who file complaints with the Division's boards and commissions.

POSITION DUTIES

This position will work with existing staff to implement tactics to improve the management of complaint resolution procedures and investigations in effort to reduce the length of time it takes for complaints to be resolved.  Moreover, this staff member will be responsible for coordinating and making consistent complaint resolution/investigation efforts among the various boards and commissions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a state high school equivalence certificate.

Experience: One year of experience conducting investigations, which require obtaining and analyzing factual information and preparing reports of findings and conclusions for administrative or court hearings.

Note:

1. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Compliance Inspection and Support  classifications or Compliance Inspection and Support specialty codes in the Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement, and Compliance field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.  

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Upon appointment, persons possessing a business occupational and professional license or participating in any outside activity which may be deemed a conflict of interest by the Secretary of the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation will be required to put same in an “Inactive” status.

Candidates are subject to security clearance before the interview, and their work records will be reviewed by the hiring division.

The certified list will be used by DLLR for a period of one year.

BENEFITS

As a contractual position, the selected candidate will be paid only for hours worked.  This position has no state-paid benefits (i.e. sick leave, annual leave, personal leave, holidays, health insurance, etc.). The person filling this position may purchase healthcare insurance at the state’s group rate.

FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS

Military Veterans may qualify for additional bonus points towards certification. A copy of your proof of eligibility (DD 214) for Veterans’ Credit must be in this office and completely verified before Veterans’ Credit will be approved.  Permanent State employees do not need to submit proof of eligibility for Veterans’ Credit.
