Introduction
IMMEDIATE OPENING - APPLICATIONS CURRENTLY BEING ACCEPTED FOR A LABORATORY TECHNICIAN OPENING IN OUR MOSQUITO CONTROL OFFICE.
WORK WILL BE SEASONAL, AT AN HOURLY RATE OF PAY FOR ACTUAL HOURS WORKED.
LOCATION OF POSITION
SALISBURY MOSQUITO CONTROL OFFICES, NANTICOKE RD., SALISBURY, MARYLAND
Main Purpose of Job
Laboratory Technician - This is seasonal employment in the Maryland Department of Agriculture to assist in the surveillance and control of mosquito populations in Maryland. On the job training will be provided.
POSITION DUTIES

Receives mosquito collections.

Handles collections according to established protocol for disease surveillance and pest management monitoring.

Identifies to genus and species and records data on standard forms.

Ships mosquitoes according to good laboratory practices to the virology laboratory at the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in Baltimore.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED Required. Each candidate must be 18 years of age and posses a driver's license valid in Maryland, with no more than 5 points on driving record.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
College Level Biology courses preferred.
