Main Purpose of Job

The Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for providing respiratory care services to the hospital and nursing home population.The candidate must be capable of using critical thinking skills to deliver these services in the safest and most effective way. Participates in all aspects of the patients care using a team approach to best maximize the highest quality of care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Physician Quality Assurance under the licensing requirements for a Respiratory Care Practitioner.

Experience: One year of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Respiratory Specialist classifications or Respiratory Therapy specialty codes in the Respiratory Therapy field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate must be willing to work holidays,weekends, and shift rotation as needed.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner from the Maryland State Board of Physician Quality Assurance, 4201 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215. Please attach a copy of your license to your application.

2. Employees in this classification are required to successfully complete and maintain current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Applicants may be given a medical examination prior to appointment to determine their ability to perform the work of the position.

2. Persons appointed to positions in this classification may be required to provide the facility with a telephone number at which they can be reached.

3. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 06.01.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
