Work that matters.  The Maryland Department of Housing & Community Development (DHCD) is a national leader in community development and affordable housing.  Our team seeks a qualified and enthusiastic individual to fill a permanent position as an Office Manager/HR Liaison.  This individual must be a highly organized and detail-oriented, self-motivated, team player.

LOCATION OF POSITION

The position will operate primarily out of the Division’s office in Baltimore, Maryland with frequent travel to offices in Lanham, Maryland.

POSITION DUTIES

This position manages the day to day operations of the Baltimore satellite office within the Division of Neighborhood Revitalization (NR), coordinating all facilities, functions, administrative activities and supervising the Baltimore Office Administrative Aide as well as managing Human Resources (HR) activities for the Division. This position also provides support to the Assistant Secretary/Director for Neighborhood Revitalization when in the Baltimore Office, and other Directors, including arranging for travel and scheduling and maintaining calendars. Additionally, this position provides administrative support to Division staff members as required, especially those reporting to the Baltimore Office. Activities support the State's administration of state and federally funded grant, loan and tax credit programs serving local governments and nonprofit organizations throughout the State designed to revitalize communities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications are required. Please read carefully.

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: One year experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel  
  • Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint and GMail
  • Experience managing a fast-paced office with multiple phone lines
  • Experience with processing human resources actions in accordance with State of Maryland requirements
