LOCATION OF POSITION
Main Purpose of Job
The Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife and Heritage Service is currently seeking applicants for a Natural Resources Technician I position which will be based out of the Millington Wildlife Management Area in Massey, Maryland. This selected candidate works closely with agency personnel to conduct habitat management projects, maintain / repair facilities / equipment, coordinate public uses, and assist with wildlife surveys / research on Wildlife Management Areas, other DNR owned or controlled properties, and certain private properties in the region for the purpose of wildlife conservation and public recreation. This position requires a basic knowledge of land management practices, farming equipment maintenance / repair / use, vehicle maintenance / repair / use, basic wildlife species identification, and the application of standard wildlife management techniques.
Note: This job requires field work in adverse conditions and may require heavy lifting.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited college or university, 18 of which are in biology, biochemistry, environmental science, forest technology, arboriculture, aquaculture, natural science, natural resources management, botany, marine biology, marine ecology, physical oceanography, ichthyology, fisheries management, wildlife management, zoology, or a natural resources management related field of study.

Notes:
1. Additional experience performing technical biological work in the field of forestry, arboriculture, wildlife, aquaculture, natural resources management, or fisheries may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in the natural resources management and biological sciences classifications or natural resources management and biological sciences specialty codes in the biological science technician field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS
The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
