Introduction

This is a part-time contractual position that is limited to Department of Public Safety & Correctional Services (DPSCS), Office of the Secretary (OSEC) employees only.

GRADE

$23.31/hour 

LOCATION OF POSITION

DPSCS - Office of the Secretary, 300 E. Joppa Road, Towson, Maryland (Baltimore County) 

Main Purpose of Job

Provides supervision and security for the Office of the Secretary by processing all visitors and by following the emergency response procedures.

POSITION DUTIES

Provides security for the Office of the Secretary; processing all visitors and following the emergency response procedures.

Handles all incoming telephone calls and incoming and outgoing mail distribution, photocopying and faxing duties.

Assists in emergency evacuation and drills; conducts inspections of fire safety and evacuation systems.

Oversees integrity of security systems and door codes.

Responsible for the prompt opening and closing of the reception area doors and telephone system.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School diploma or G.E.D.

Experience: Ten years of Law Enforcement experience in a State, local or Federal police agency.

 

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

One (1) year of experience providing security for the Department of Public Safety & Correctional Services (DPSCS), Office of the Secretary (OSEC).

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Limited to the Department of Public Safety & Correctional Services (DPSCS), Office of the Secretary (OSEC) employees only.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

 

1. Valid Maryland permit or LEOSA to carry a handgun.Employees in this classification will be required to provide the facility with a telephone number where they can be reached.

2. Employees in this classification will be required to provide the facility with a telephone number where they can ba reached.

3. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
