Main Purpose of Job

The Community Health Program Manager for the School Health Program manages the delivery of school nursing and health services in compliance with state, federal, and local policies and procedures and sound nursing practices to all Anne Arundel County public schools. The Community Health Program Manager indirectly oversees the nursing staff assigned to schools in Anne Arundel County and the vision and hearing screening program. The position is also responsible for the coordination, development and delivery of all programmatic issues that achieve the mission of the program, as well as problem resolution and quality assurance of nursing practice. The position directly supervises CHN Program Supervisors, Vision and Hearing Technician Supervisor, and two Office Secretary II. In addition, the position works with the Bureau Director and Deputy Director to strategize problem solving and structure regular feedback and evaluation of the School Health Program. The position performs designated functional assignments and provides backup coverage for other functional assignments as determined by the Director and Deputy Director of the Bureau of School Health and Support.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Master’s degree in nursing or related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience as a community health nurse in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity or one year of experience as a community health nurse and two years of experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity as a registered nurse.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and two years of experience as a community health nurse for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and three years of experience as a community health nurse for the required education.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classification or Nursing or Health Care Specialist specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.  

 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of School Health experience preferred.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215. A copy of your current license or license verification should accompany your application.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
