Main Purpose of Job

The Contractual Nurse Practitioner/Midwife I is the intermediate level of work providing primary health care to patients in community settings, local health department clinics and State health facilities.  The main purpose of this position is to evaluate, assess and diagnose individuals to determine necessary psychiatric treatment, including prescribing and monitoring of medications. This is a part-time contractual position requiring that the selected candidate must be able to work and travel to all sites of the Worcester County Health Department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:    Determined by Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses under the certification requirements for Nurse Practitioner or Nurse-Midwife.

Experience:  None

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

The selected candidate must be able to work and travel to all sites of the Worcester County Health Department.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner or as a Nurse Midwife from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
