Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of the Fiscal Accounts Technician II position is to manage the business functions of the Charles H. Hickey, Jr. School . The functions include accounts payable, payroll, student funds and other fiscal operations of the Charles H. Hickey, Jr. School.

The Fiscal Accounts Technician II will enter vendor invoices in the State Accounting System (FMIS), calculate payroll and posting salary information to the exception time report (ETR) for regular payroll and positive time report (PTR) for contractual payroll, and enter timesheet information in the Leave Accounting System (LAS) to also include generating and reconciling control reports to actual timesheets and preparing and posting adjustments in the LAS.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience reconciling agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems or developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers and reports using accounting software packages or identifying budget trends and recommending budget realignments.

Note:

1. Candidates may substitute experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1.More than one year experience calculating and processing payroll in MD State Leave System (LAS), processing invoices and posting payments in State of MD Financial Management Information System (FMIS)

2.At least one year experience in Microsoft Excel or Access and using accounting software.

SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants who meet the Minimum Qualifications will be placed on the eligible list categorized as Best Qualified, Better Qualified, or Qualified. Candidates shall be certified to the eligible list for a year.

The assessment will be a rating of your application based on your education, training, and experience as it relate to the requirements of the position. For education obtained outside the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
