Introduction

The Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Senior Business Development Representative within the Division of Business Development’s Regional Growth and Retention Business Unit.

Western Maryland

Main Purpose of Job

The incumbent is responsible for being the direct Agency representative for several jurisdictions in the Western Maryland region of the state.

POSITION DUTIES

The primary focus of this position is to enhance the economic vitality of the state through retention and expansion of businesses and industry within the assigned geographical jurisdictions.  The incumbent will work closely with local economic development officials, company CEOs and senior leadership to facilitate the creation and retention of jobs and increase capital investment across the state. The Representative links Maryland companies to services that support business growth,  including federal, state, and local public resources and  private resources to address strategic planning and marketing; technology implementation, development, workforce development; regulatory and permitting assistance; financing assistance; and business location services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and at least six years of recent professional experience in business, industrial or economic development, business marketing, finance, commercial real estate or a closely related field.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must possess good written and oral communication skills and have experience with the Microsoft Office Suite for Windows including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint and/or other relevant software.   

 Some statewide travel is required.
