THIS IS A POSITION-SPECIFIC RECRUITMENT FOR MARYLAND CORRECTIONAL ENTERPRISES.

LOCATION OF POSITION

MCI-H  - 18601 Roxbury Road Hagerstown, Maryland 21746.

Main Purpose of Job

To provide training and supervision to inmate workers, in quality control as well as general production related to food manufacturing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Five (5) years of experience in meat cutting trade (Retail, hotels, restaurants and/or institutions)

The candidate should also have experience in the operation of meat processing equipment (meat saw, meat grinder, meat cubing machines) and in Standard Sanitation and operational procedures.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

HAACP Certification is a plus.

Knowledge of portion control methods.

Must be able to identify cuts of meat including primal, subprimal and retail cuts. 

Must be computer literate, including intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and MS Office Suite.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1- Specific educational requirements and other selection standards are set by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission in accordance with Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209 of the Annotated Code and are listed in the Code of Maryland Regulations Title 12, Subtitle 10, Chapter 01. If selected for this position you must meet the selection standards required and successfully complete the training prescribed by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission for a correctional officer during their probationary period, (Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209). Selection standards for correctional officer training are listed in detail in the Code of Maryland Regulations Title 12, Subtitle 10, Chapter 01 and include the following: U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien status Must be at least 18 years of age. A completed background investigation, Oral interview and Physical examination.

2- Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

SELECTION PROCESS

The evaluation may be a rating of your Application based on your Education, Training and Experience as it relates to the requirements of the position. For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the Equivalent American Education as determined by a Foreign Credential Evaluation service must accompany the Application. BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
