LOCATION OF POSITION

DHCD's Headquarters Office is located in Prince George's County at the New Carrollton Metro stop.

POSITION DUTIES

DHCD has an immediate opening for a permanent full-time Loan Operations Manager located within the Single Family Housing Unit of the Community Development Administration. The individual in this high-level management position will be primarily responsible for managing the operations of Single Family Housing's homebuyer lending programs. The position has direct management responsibility for the Maryland Mortgage Program loan underwriting, compliance review and processing functions. This position will perform loan pipeline management; supervise the underwriting and other loan technician staff; oversee the automated loan reservation system and loan tracking database; ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory standards and secondary market guidelines; and, participate in new product development. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mortgage underwriting professional who has strong management skills and is looking to be an integral part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum and Selective Qualifications are REQUIRED. Please read carefully.

Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Six years of experience underwriting for residential mortgage lending to ensure thorough knowledge of loan operations in production, compliance, and servicing.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

One year experience underwriting residential mortgages using FNMA/FHLMC and FHA guidelines.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least one year of experience working with federal regulatory guidelines that governs governmental and conventionally insured mortgage loans.  
  • Designation as a FHA Direct Endorsement (D.E.) underwriter  
  • Experience with or certification relating to compliance functions.  
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work in a team environment, and have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.   
  • Successful candidate will possess good problem-solving skills and leadership qualities.
