LOCATION OF POSITION

Baltimore City (500 North Calvert Street)

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position will be to analyze and audit financial information submitted by licensees of the Office of Cemetery Oversight relative to financial stability.

POSITION DUTIES

This position will audit and analyze the Pre Need and Perpetual care Trust Reports submitted to the Office upon licensee's renewals.  These duties and other related duties will be performed for cemetaries and monument dealers and sellers of burial goods.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university or a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 30 credit hours in Accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing.

Experience: Two  year of experience examining, analyzing and interpreting accounting systems, records and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to DUI as a result of unemployment insurance overpayment and/or fraud.  Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.

The certified list will be used by DLLR for a period of one year.

Successful candidates will be placed on the eligible list categorized as Best Qualified, Better Qualified or Qualified.

BENEFITS

As a contractual position, the selected candidate will be paid only for hours worked.  This position has no state-paid benefits (i.e. sick leave, annual leave, personal leave, holidays, health insurance, etc.). The person filling this position may purchase healthcare insurance at the state’s group rate.

FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS

Military Veterans may qualify for additional bonus points towards certification. A copy of your proof of eligibility (DD 214) for Veterans’ Credit must be in this office and completely verified before Veterans’ Credit will be approved.  Permanent State employees do not need to submit proof of eligibility for Veterans’ Credit.
