Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide technical expertise in the computerized post production process. This process utilizes Avid non-linear suites and the shared storage system. We also use the Adobe software Suite and Sapphire plug ins. This position also supplies live studio support and media duplication. This position supplies some troubleshooting of systems described above.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Studio Support and media duplication:  This position will provide studio support for live productions and media duplication when not editing.  Live studio support includes playback of selected roll-in reels and recording of various studio sources for ISO and Master records.  Some records are for live playback at a later date.  Routing and monitoring are necessary for accurate quality control.  Media duplication duties include machine to machine duplication of various format tape machines including HDCAM, DigiBeta, Beta SP, HDV, DVCAM and XDCAM.  DVD's are burned and duplicated using stand alone machines and tower duplicators.  Thermal labels are applied using Sure Thing label programs.  PC's are used for file copying and transfer.
  • Digital Editing:  This position provides creative and technical expertise in the Avid digital post production process in the following ways:  Importing and organizing video, audio and graphics provided by the client into Facilis.  Selecting and deciding which elements, such as video, audio, graphics, etc., should be used to convey the message of the product, as provided by the client.  Editing the above mentioned elements into a sequence to create a program in a timely fashion is required.  Meeting the requirements of the client while adhering to the technical standards of the FCC and PBS is required of this position.
  • Troubleshooting:  This position troubleshoots daily system problems and offers assistance to the supervisor and other editors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School diploma or GED  

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience in editing and related experience
