Main Purpose of Job

Provide video support for productions, both in house and on location either as the assigned Video Operator or Engineer-In-Charge. Assign and supervise the assigned operator. Maintain, troubleshoot and/or diagnose all studio and field equipment. research and draft the RFP's and/or RFQ's for the procurement of new equipment. Planning and installation of new equipment, and training of others on the functions and usage of equipment.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Provide supervision of the following positions:  Digital Video Specialist I, Digital Video Specialist II and any other position assigned under the Digital Video Supervisor.
  • Provide managerial support during remote productions as the Engineer In Charge.  Operate sophisticated production systems that include Switchers, Cameras, Frame syncs, Graphics Systems, Routers, Down and Up Converters, Computer interfaces, and other video peripherals.  Paint or "shade" the cameras along with able to use skin detail, iris control, knee, gamma, flare, pedestal, color correction, phase, timing and other settings to best optimize the color and unifying all the cameras.  Maintain systems to meet SMPTE specifications.  Maintain all video platforms as directed by engineering management.  Assist in maintain ENG, EFP and system plant operations.  Operate robotic cameras for show production as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose technical malfunctions.  Provide general maintenance, training and support to studio and control room equipment along with videographers for their field cameras.  This includes but not limited to, camera set-up, operations and minor field maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Provide varied technical support, research and recommend equipment, draft RFP's and/or RFQ's for equipment acquisition, assistance and guidance in the transition to the ever changing technology, support in other areas such as video on demand and create a file or different technical scenes for the field and studio cameras.
  • Support technical evaluations and the New Media areas with Video on Demand, Quick time and Flash files along with any other type of codec required for ingestion.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering.  Equivalent experience, certifications or training in broadcast engineering may be substituted.

Five years of broadcast experience which includes maintenance, design, and troubleshooting skills at systems and component levels.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

This position may require flexibility in work schedule, including nights, weekends and holiday hours.  This position may require working outside in unfavorable weather conditions.
