LOCATION OF POSITION

Main Purpose of Job
To provide audiology services to students at the Maryland School for the Deaf. This position will serve children aged birth to twenty one in our Family Education/Early Childhood Department, Elementary, Middle and High School programs.
POSITION DUTIES
The incumbent is responsible to perform audiological diagnostic assessments (including team testing, OAE, ABR), troubleshooting and verification of hearing aids, cochlear implants and assistive devices as well as take ear mold impressions, order and fit the devises. The audiologist must collaborate with local audiologists regarding student needs and services, attend IEP/IFSP meetings and assist with development of IEPs. They are expected to support and instruct classroom staff and other specialists regarding current trends in audiology, hearing aids, cochlear implants and other auditory technology; attend MSD community events in order to increase knowledge of and sensitivity towards deaf community and deaf culture; support the Bilingual Education concepts throughout the School and support classroom staff as to which students would benefit from auditory learning experiences during the educational day.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Meet the requirements for licensure in Maryland as an Audiologist. Three years clinical experience in pediatrics and knowledge of current technologies including cochlear implants and bone anchored devices.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association preferred.
LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
Experience working with cochlear implants and children with special needs; Willingness to learn American Sign Language is required.
