Main Purpose of Job

Located on Maryland's Eastern Shore in Dorchester County is the Eastern Shore Hospital Center (ESHC). This facility is an Acute Inpatient Psychiatric facility that provides psychiatric clinical services to approximately 80 clients. The ESHC has current openings for Psychiatrist Clinical Graduate. These positions provide full state benefits to include: paid leave, health insurance, pension, tort claims and moving expenses as available. Due to the federal designation as an underserved area, loan repayment may be available.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a degree in medicine from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Applicants must be eligible for board certification in psychiatry by the American Board of Medical Specialties at time of appointment and must become board certified in psychiatry within the first 18 months of employment. 

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Medical Corpsman and Physicians classifications or Nursing or Physician and Medical Services and Special Corpsman Officer specialty codes in the medicine field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Applicants must be eligible for board certification in psychiatry by the American Board of Medical Specialties.  Employees are required to be board certified in psychiatry within the first 18 months of employment.

2. Applicants must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law. A copy of a current Maryland medical license should be attached to the application.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
