Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide recovery support to inmates while in the Frederick County Detention Center and upon release, facilitate recovery support activities to participants of the P-103 Substance Abuse Treatment programs in the Detention Center and work release program to include support groups, recovery discussions, life skills activities and recovery planning. The successful candidate will spend 85% of their time at the Detention Center. Experience in a behavioral health setting is preferred.  Candidates with first hand experience as a recipient of services in Maryland's behavioral health system are encouraged to apply.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:    Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:  One year of experience in providing information on health care and disease prevention within the community.

NOTE:

1.  Experience providing assistance to individuals in a health care or social services setting may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

2.  Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Health Services classifications or Health Services and specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. 

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate must be able to pass the background check for the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in a behavioral health setting is preferred. Candidates with first hand experience as a recipient of services in Maryland's behavioral health system are encouraged to apply.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
