Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to investigate for maximum reimbursement of hospital costs associated with admissions to State facilities. This position also investigates for eligibility in the Maryland Medical Assistance Program. This position will complete all required forms and reports associated with the investigations and bill rate setting in accordance with COMAR regulations and Title XVI of the Health and General Articles of the Annotated Code of Maryland.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: None

Note:

Experience in health care financing work on the life/health insurance fields in the investigation and/or adjustment of claims may be substituted at the rate of one year for 30 credit hours for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Four year college degree is desired.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle, Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland, and to have access to a vehicle for daily use.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
