Introduction

This is a position specific recruitment for the Department of Natural Resources, Fisheries Service- Annapolis, MD. This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies for this position/function only. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year. Persons interested in future vacancies within this classification must re-apply at that time. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources, Fisheries Service in Annapolis, MD, is currently accepting applications for an Administrative Specialist III position in the Aquaculture Division. This position will direct and manage daily and long-range administrative, customer service and operational support services for the Aquaculture Division including responsibilities for accounting, data entry and management and communications and outreach. The incumbent is also responsible for developing and maintaining tools that are used by staff to refine administrative processes within the Division's Leasing and Permitting and Field Operations Programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above at the rate of one year experience for 30 credit hours of education for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience developing Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) for administrative processes used in business management is preferred.

Experience working with a federal, state, or local agency which has the legal authority to regulate a certain activity (ie Army Corps of Engineers, US Fish and Wildlife, or a County Government Office) is preferred.

Experience reviewing and processing legal documents, reports or permit applications is preferred.

Experience using Microsoft Access as a database management platform is preferred.

Experience developing and updating website content is preferred.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
