Main Purpose of Job
The Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife and Heritage Service, is currently accepting applications for a Seasonal Contractual Field Assistant located at the Wellington Work Center, in Princess Anne, Maryland. The selected candidate will assist Regional staff with migratory game bird trapping and banding during two time periods: August-October 2016 and February-March 2017 (total of 642-900 hours depending on salary).
Note: The incumbent should possess knowledge of standard protocols for determining species, sex, and age of captured waterfowl, record keeping, trap construction, and have familiarity with the distribution and habitat use of waterfowl on the lower Eastern Shore of Maryland.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Work experience involving the trapping and banding of waterfowl.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualification(s).
Familiarity with the distribution and habitat use of waterfowl on the lower Eastern Shore of Maryland is preferred but not required.

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
