Introduction

APPLICATIONS CURRENTLY BEING ACCEPTED FOR IMMEDIATE SEASONAL HOURLY EMPLOYMENT IN THE MARYLAND DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, MOSQUITO CONTROL PROGRAM.

THIS IS CONTRACTUAL EMPLOYMENT, AND EMPLOYEES WILL BE PAID FOR ACTUAL HOURS WORKED ONLY.  NOTE:  AT THIS TIME OF YEAR, FULL-TIME HOURS ARE GENERALLY AVAILABLE, DEPENDENT ON WEATHER AND OTHER FACTORS.

OT and SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL PAID WHERE APPLICABLE.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Immediate Openings: ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND (ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY)

Main Purpose of Job

Seasonal employees needed to assist with surveillance and control of mosquito populations in Maryland.

POSITION DUTIES

Work involves : mosquito control field surveillance, laboratory duties, interactions with the public, handling/mixing/applying insecticides, operating truck and spray equipment, and preparing detailed records.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Age 18.

High School Diploma/GED required.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Valid Driver's License required, with no more than 5 points on driving record.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
