Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for addressing high priority projects, which include the evaluation, analysis, research and development of health care services and policies as they relate to data management. The primary purpose of the position is to provide health informatics expertise to tasks related to data management, analysis, and reporting; and recommendations related to public health data and quality reporting. This position administers program-specific data set(s) including responsibilities related to data quality, data maintenance and archiving, analysis, documentation and reporting, and other related work as required. This position may assist in the design and implementation of public health information systems and programs. This position is responsible for analyzing and interpreting data for reports, presentations, and publications and making recommendations based on analysis. This position provides analytic and public health support to program teams as requested in the areas of data analysis, protocols, report and manuscript writing, technical presentations, and responses to informatics inquiries. This position performs statistical analysis; ad hoc analyses; and data mining, including extraction, transformation, and processing of complex data sets; and creates analytic data sets. Specific areas of focus include Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS), the EHR Incentive Program, and Medicaid interaction with the Health Information Exchange (HIE).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:    A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:  One year of experience evaluating, analyzing, researching and developing health care services, policies and programs.

NOTE:

A Master's degree in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Public Policy or closely related field may be substituted for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
