Introduction

By law, DJS is a child-serving agency responsible for assessing the individual needs of referred youth and providing intake, detention, probation, commitment and after-care services. DJS collaborates with youth, families, schools, community partners, law enforcement and other public agencies to coordinate services and resources to contribute to safer communities.

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to maintain Accounts Receivable System, debtor files, demand letters for payment, record debtor receipts, create and maintain working relationship with CCU. Prepare necessary journal entries, adjustments and memorandums for receipt disbursement to the proper PCA/OBJ from the default receipts account. Review and approve Per Diem invoices, investigate discrepancies and ensure tracking is completed. Juvenile Restitution Tracking System (RTS):ensure proper accounting for collection and disbursement of Restitution, establish/reconciliation of control accounts with details from the RTS, manage access rights for RTS users and document propriety of critical transactions to RTS.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in the performance of duties calculating payroll and overtime is highly desired

Proficient experience in utilizing FMIS is highly desired

Experience in supervisory duties is highly desired

Proficient experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable

Experience in working with Maryland State payroll

Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite software

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
