This is a position specific recruitment for the Department of Public Safety & Correctional Services (DPSCS). The resulting eligible list will be used to fill current and future recruitments. Applicants certified to this list will remain eligible for one year.

Main Purpose of Job

This position manages the staff in the Research Analyst section of the Record Recovery unit, which is responsible for collecting, analyzing, evaluating and disseminating criminal history information relating to arrest and disposition records in Maryland. The analyst manager will coordinate the sharing of criminal history statistical information among the Criminal Justice Information System and the Information Technology Communications Division operating managers for the purpose of identifying better reporting and management processes, to identify trends in database errors or data reporting issues. The individual will provide statistical analysis support to the Director, Assistant Directors and operational administrators within the Criminal Justice Information System.

POSITION DUTIES

This position is responsible for managing the team responsible for researching missing court disposition information, matching the retrieved court disposition information with the associated arrest information in the State's criminal history database and updating the State's criminal history records with the newly found disposition information.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university. In order to meet this educational requirement an unofficial copy of your transcript must accompany your application.

For education obtained outside the United States, you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. This evaluation must be submitted with your application.

 

Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet this selective qualification to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

One year of formal supervisory experience to include assigning and reviewing work, approving leave requests, evaluating an employee's job performance, training new staff, and providing counseling/discipline as necessary.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
