Main Purpose of Job

This position serves as the Assistant Director of Adult, Child and Family Services and OHEP program. Provides overall management for the protection of children in their own homes as well as out of home care, and protection for vulnerable adults as well as promoting self-sufficiency for families and adults; establishes and maintains standards, goals and schedules for all Service Unit Staff, setting the unit's priorities and evaluating effectiveness of both staff and programs; actively participates as a member of the Agency's executive team in determining the future course of the Agency through executive decision, strategic planning and other leadership activities.  This position serves as back up to the Emergency Contact for the Department.  This position supervises three Social Work Supervisor's, Coordinator for the QAC CARE Center (Children's Advocacy Center) and Administrative Assistant. 

POSITION DUTIES

Directs and coordinates all activities of the Child and Adult Services Programs; Establishes overall policies and procedures for the various programs; Develops short and long range plans for program operations and resources;  Establishes program goals, standards and controls to meet program objectives; Determines organizational structure and staffing needs of the program(s); Plans, coordinates, supervises and evaluates the work of subordinate supervisors; Represents the agency in a liaison capacity with managers and officials of other agencies concerning program activities.

The nature of this position may require working evening and weekend hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university approved by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners.

Experience: Seven years of professional experience in a social work capacity in a public or private agency of institution.  Three years of experience must have been in an administrative, supervisory, or consultative capacity.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet the selective qualification to be considered.  Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualification.  

Three years of the required experience must have been in Child Welfare.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Limited to candidates willing to accept employment in Queen Anne's County, Maryland.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates are required to be licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as a Certified Social Worker- Clinical (LCSW-C) by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners for a period of time specified by the Board prior to appointment to social work supervisor positions in State service. (COMAR 10.42.08.04 effective July 1, 2004.)

2.  Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require the operation of a motor vehicle.  Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees are required to meet mandatory standards for continuing education as determined by the Department of Human Resources.  Employee's who fail to obtain the required continuing education credits shall be subject to disciplinary action including demotion, suspension and dismissal.
