Main Purpose of Job

This position serves as the Director of Epidemiology for the Center for Cancer Prevention and Control (CCPC), and provides epidemiological direction and guidance to the Director and Deputy Director of CCPC. This position provides oversight and direct supervision of the Program Manager for the Maryland Cancer Registry, as well as the CCPC Senior Epidemiologist. In addition, this position is responsible for oversight, direction,and quality assurance for all data analyses and reports produced by CCPC.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a Master's degree in the field of Public Health from an accredited college or university with a minimum of three graduate courses in Epidemiology, and must also possess at least three years of work experience as an epidemiologist subsequent to the receipt to the Master's degree which included: analyzing statistical data, analyzing and evaluating survey data, and identifying/using appropriate epidemiological study procedures and/or relevant statistical evaluation methods.

 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Desired Qualifications:

1. At least five years of experience at the management level in public health setting, including experience in the oversight and management of personnel and financial resources.

2. Administrative and epidemiological experience in the field of cancer and/or chronic disease prevention and control.

3. Experience with the oversight and management of large, complex databases including the facilitation of necessary quality assurance tasks, software upgrades, and report creation.

4. Experience with writing and editing data reports for multiple types of audiences (scientific and non-scientific)
