The Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services is currently accepting applications for this position.  The Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services is a state agency that assists individuals with disabilities to find meaningful employment opportunities.

Essential Functions: This position is responsible for overseeing and administering the Quality Assurance Screening Test (QAST) by providing evaluations for certification as sign language interpreters.  Duties include receiving and making appropriate approvals of QAST applications; corresponding with candidates and evaluators; scheduling evaluations for candidates and evaluators; scoring testing forms; determining level of certifications; and maintaining accurate and complete records for the QAST system.  Additional duties include functioning as an evaluator as needed; maintaining data regarding CEU’s, maintaining fees, evaluation dates and times, and the interpreter’s certifications levels.  This position is required to follow policies regarding written grievances; coordinating QAST Advisory committee meetings and workshops; the ability to train experienced and new evaluators; as well as evaluating statistical analysis regarding local and regional trends to determine needs for improvement and/or changes in the QAST system.

Preferred Skills, Education and Experience: This position requires knowledge of the QAST Ethical Standards tenets, Level of Limitations requirements, and any other laws regarding the Deaf and Interpreting communities.  In addition applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Interpreting or Deaf Services related field; National certification as a Sign Language interpreter through RID; and 2 years’ experience as a nationally certified sign language interpreter or administration of a certification system. Prefer a Master’s degree in Interpreting or a Deaf Services Field and a QAST certification 5/5.

Salary:  Monthly salary range is $2,900.00 to $3,400.00 and is commensurate with education and years of experience.  Employees are provided paid health, dental, life and retirement benefits as well as an option to participate in the State’s tax-deferred annuity program.
