INTRODUCTION

The Board of Medical Licensure & Supervision is currently seeking a legal secretary to provide secretarial services to multiple attorneys. Secretary must be able to prepare simple legal documents and finalize complex documents used in Board hearings, including briefs, pleadings, motions, scheduling orders, scheduling depositions, prepare exhibits, prepare board orders, prepare agreements, maintain confidential files, provide administrative support for Attorneys, Executive staff etc. Secretary must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.  A command of grammar and excellent proof reading skills are required. Minimum of two years’ experience in the legal profession is also required. Successful candidate must be adept at time management and able to work well in a team environment. Background check will be conducted on successful candidate.

BASIC PURPOSE

Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities for providing secretarial and administrative support to attorneys.

LEVEL DESCRIPTORS

The Legal Secretary job family consists of three levels which are distinguished by the complexity of the job assignments, the extent of the responsibilities and duties assigned, the level of expertise required for the completion of assigned tasks, and the responsibility for the leadership of others.

Level II:  
This is the career level where employees will be expected to perform duties at all levels of complexity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Level II:    
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of three years of experience performing a variety of complex clerical and typing work PLUS one year of experience as a legal secretary; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

SELECTION PLAN

Scores based on:  50% Written Test 50% Typing Test (The pass point is 50 words per minute)
