Construction/Maintenance Technician II

This position is located at Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur.

This position is responsible for performing carpentry work.  Duties include erecting and maintaining scaffolds, sheds, forms, frames, fences and other structures; altering and repairing doors, floors, partitions, stairways, window screens and other fixtures; replacing light bulbs; maintaining generators and motors; as well as making minor repairs to various types of heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment.  Additional duties include installing and maintaining locks and other security devices; constructing, maintaining and repairing concrete and other foundations; building retaining walls, walkways, fireplaces, chimneys, stairways and other similar projects.  In addition, the position may perform occasional security duties. Candidates that are proficient in American Sign Language are preferred.   Probationary period (or trial period if applicable) is required.

This job family consists of three levels which are distinguished based on the complexity of work assignments, the expertise required to perform assigned duties, and the responsibility assigned for providing supervision to others.

Level II:          
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of four (4) years of experience in one or more of the building trades or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
