INTRODUCTION

Position is located at VS #64 in Tulsa.

Position may be filled at a higher level.

This position is responsible for conducting client interviews, arranging and coordinating client services and disseminating information to vendors, clients and staff. Duties include assisting clients in the completion of applications; reviewing applications for referral; providing clients with resource referral information and for dispensing information regarding rehabilitation and visual services programs and procedures. Additional duties include learning client interviewing techniques and training in policies and procedure for rehabilitation programs; providing general office operations; coordinating and arranging medical procedures for clients; generating computerized vocational evaluation and skill analysis reports; for gathering, researching and assembling case records; maintaining an information system as well as obtaining and disseminating employment information. Applicant must be willing to perform all job related travel. Probationary period (or trial period if applicable) is required.

Background Check: Effective January 1, 2012, the successful candidates for positions at the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services will be required to pass an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation criminal investigation and background check.

BASIC PURPOSE

Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities for performing skilled and complex technical work assisting professional rehabilitation staff in providing rehabilitation services to individuals with physical and mental disabilities, blindness or visual impairment.

LEVEL DESCRIPTORS

The Rehabilitation Technician job family consists of three levels of work which are distinguished by the level of complexity and diversity of the specific job assignments, the extent of responsibility assigned and the expertise required for the completion of the duties assigned.

Level I:
This is the basic level where employees are assigned responsibilities for performing entry-level work in a training status under close supervision. In this role employees will be responsible for providing information pertaining to rehabilitation and visual services programs; arranging client medical procedures with vendors; researching and assembling case records and performing tasks related to general office operations. Employees at this level will receive training in the client interview process and in policy and procedure interpretation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Level I:
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of one year of experience in office technical clerical work.
