Introduction

Effective January 1, 2011 new employees to the Oklahoma State Department of Health will be placed on a bi-weekly payroll system.

This position provides speech language pathology services as a part of a multi-disciplinary team serving eligible infants and toddlers through the Early Intervention (EI) program in Cleveland, Garvin and McClain Counties.  These services are provided under the authority and regulations of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Part H of the Oklahoma Early Intervention Act.  Position duties include but are not limited to: participation as a team member by providing evaluation and assessments to determine initial and continuing eligibility for services; participation in the development of the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP); preparation of intervention plans; provision of home, center or clinic-based speech pathology services; consultation with schools, day-care centers, Head Start, medical facilities and other agencies about development and educational resources and programs for children with disabilities; and maintenance of records, progress notes, intervention

Other: Position requires possible response to public health emergencies including, but not limited to, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, or catastrophic events. The Oklahoma State Department of Health is tobacco free.  Employees are prohibited from using tobacco products throughout all indoor and outdoor areas of premises under the control of the Oklahoma State Department of Health, in all vehicles on those premises, and in state vehicles in use for OSDH business anywhere.  Applicants may be subject to a background check.

This position may be filled at a higher level of the job family, depending upon the qualifications of the recommended applicant.

BASIC PURPOSE

Positions within this job family are assigned responsibilities related to providing patients with diagnostic and therapeutic services in the areas of speech and language.

LEVEL DESCRIPTORS

The Speech-Language Pathologist job family consists of four levels which are distinguished by the complexity of the duties performed, the depth and breadth of accountability, and the responsibility assigned for providing leadership to others.

Level II:   
This is the career level where incumbents perform professional duties as a fully certified Speech-Language Pathologist.  Incumbents at this level are not assigned supervisory responsibilities, but may provide training and technical assistance to others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Level II:    
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
