Introduction

This position is located in the Northwest Region. The Agent must reside within 35 miles of the Northwest Regional Office in Woodward. 

MAJOR WORK DUTIES:
1. Independently conducts investigations, specifically crime scenes and other inquiries in accordance with training, legal standards, and OSBI policy.  Prepares cases for prosecutorial review and court.   Provides testimony in court.
2. Collects, preserves, and/or supervises the collection and preservation of evidence in accordance with legal standards and OSBI policy.
3. Writes investigative reports, prosecutorial reports, intelligence reports and other memoranda, correspondence, and special reports.
4. Successfully meets all training requirements mandated by the state of Oklahoma and the OSBI.

Successful applicants must be willing to submit to a drug screen, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation and a thorough background investigation.  Certain events automatically disqualify an applicant, such as, felony conviction; admission of an undetected crime that, if known, would have been a felony charge; failure to pay federal or state income tax; positive confirmed drug urine test; illegal use of a controlled substance within certain time frames.

BASIC PURPOSE

Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving the investigation or supervision of a broad range of general criminal and other special investigations.  This includes investigating major crimes, documenting and collecting evidence, maintaining security of crime scenes, analyzing crime scenes, conducting background investigations, and other related duties.

LEVEL DESCRIPTORS

This job family consists of five levels which are distinguished by the complexity of job assignments, expertise required to complete assigned duties, level of experience and degree of responsibility and accountability for providing leadership and direction to others.

Level II:     
This is the career level where employees are fully trained in the performance of basic criminal investigative duties and perform a broad range of general criminal and other investigations.  This will include independent responsibility for conducting investigations of major crimes and offenses or participating as a member of a team in covert investigations, raids, surveillance or other activities and performing other essential functions associated with the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Level II:     
Education and Experience requirements at this level are contained in Title 74 O.S. Section 150.8A:  “An Agent, at the time of his appointment to the Bureau, shall be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and shall possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university” and one year of professional experience in conducting criminal investigations for a governmental law enforcement agency.

NOTE:  Professional experience in conducting criminal investigations for a government law enforcement agency must have been the primary full time job responsibility to be considered as qualifying.  Incidental performance of professional criminal investigative work shall not be considered qualifying.  Experience as a forensic laboratory  criminalist, analyst or examiner shall not be considered qualifying.
