Clinical Social Worker III

Effective January 1, 2011 new employees to the Oklahoma State Department of Health will be placed on a bi-weekly payroll system.

The bi-weekly hiring rate established for this position is:  Level III - $1,658.19

Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) will be responsible for providing technical supervision to other public health social workers, as well as clinical social work services to individuals, families, groups, and communities by assessing needs and providing appropriate intervention related to maternal, infant, child, and family planning services.  Primary focus will be on services to Tillman, Greer, Harmon, and Beckham County residents.  Responsibilities will be accomplished working with public and private health care providers. Social worker will function as a member of multidisciplinary team and will seek to understand and address the risk and protective factors that impact physical and mental health status.  Duties may include, but not be limited to psychosocial assessments, depression screenings, teen pregnancy prevention programs, infant mortality reduction activities, short term counseling/brief interventions, advocacy on behalf of clients/broader social issues, community outreach/education/involvement/resource development,  home visits to families experiencing fetal/infant loss, and client referrals to necessary resources (e.g., mental health counseling, rent/utility assistance, domestic violence services, food pantries, etc.).

Other: Position requires possible response to public health emergencies including, but not limited to, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, or catastrophic events.  The Oklahoma State Department of Health is tobacco free.  Employees are prohibited from using tobacco products throughout all indoor and outdoor areas of premises under the control of the Oklahoma State Department of Health, in all vehicles on those premises, and in state vehicles in use for OSDH business anywhere.  Applicants may be subject to a background check.

Positions in this family are assigned responsibility for providing clinical social services in state facilities, hospitals, clinics, or institutions.

This job family consisted of four levels which are distinguished by the level of complexity and diversity of the specific job assignments, the extent of responsibility assigned for each level, the expertise required for the completion of assigned duties, and the responsibility assigned for providing leadership to others.

Level III:
This is the specialist level where employees perform complex and difficult clinical social work services, and provide both program delivery and client intervention functions requiring intensive case management activities and extensive professional, diagnostic and treatment activities.  Conducts family and individual therapy with only minimal supervision.  Acts as client’s advocate with outside service agencies.  Advocates on behalf of broader social issues that affect client populations.  Participates in community organization activities with private, community, and public groups and agencies in the development of community resources.   Some employees at this level may act as back-up supervisor, or serve as an assistant to the clinical social worker supervisor.  Supervisory duties at this level consist of providing consultation, guidance and assistance to lower level clinical social worker.

Level III:
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and four (4) years of professional social work experience.
