Title:  Session-Only Messenger

SUMMARY – Under general supervision, delivers messages to the Senate, Governor and/or Secretary of State describing the House action taken on legislation.  Delivers messages to the House Chamber and Engrossing and Enrolling Department.  Also provides administrative assistance to Message Clerk.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Delivers messages to the Senate, Governor and/ or Secretary of State

Delivers messages to the House Chamber

Delivers messages to Engrossing and Enrolling Department

Files legislative bill folders

Provides other administrative support as needed

QUALIFICATIONS – To perform this job successfully, an individual must be punctual, dependable and self-motivated.  Individual must have the ability to work in a stressful environment.

EDUCATION –   Experience performing administrative duties and at least one year in college or equivalent.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES – Ability to follow written and oral directions; to maintain effective working relationships and dealing with individuals professionally and courteously; computer skills, and the ability to work overtime.

CONCLUSION

Veteran’s preference points apply only for initial appointment in the classified service.
