Requirements: All applicants must pass an initial physical fitness exam. Non-OBN applicant(s) must pass a background investigation, polygraph examination and a drug screen. A selected classified applicant must sign a letter of understanding that they are resigning the classified service to accept the position in the unclassified service.
This position is unique in that it requires training and qualification as a commissioned police officer with major added duties and requirements of flying Bureau aircraft as a qualified law enforcement pilot.
Education and Experience Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age, and have a minimum of 60 college credit hours. Must have a FAA Commercial Pilotfs rating for flying airplanes and helicopters. Must have a minimum of 1500 flight hours to include 1000 hours in airplanes, and 500 hours in helicopters. Must have an instrument rating in airplanes, be multiengine airplane rated. In addition, the candidate must have a current Class II flight physical and have no history of aviation accidents or violations.
Desirable experience as a pilot includes FAA ratings as an instructor pilot, experience in the area of counter drug aviation, and/ or aviation maintenance experience. Desirable Agent experience is prior experience in law enforcement or experience in the military.
Major Work Duties: Investigates alleged violations of the State Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substance Act (Title 63) or the Oklahoma Statute; prepares and presents appropriate cases for prosecution. Performs duties as a law enforcement pilot, flying airplanes and/or helicopters in conduct of the Bureaufs mission.
Other Requirements: Subsequent to conditional offer of employment, a background investigation, polygraph, psychological and medical evaluation must be successfully completed. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
