This position is responsible for providing technical assistance for Visual Services Rehabilitation Specialists and a Rehabilitation of the Blind Specialist and their consumers in the provision of Visual Services programs and direct services to consumers. Duties include maintaining scanned case files according to agency standards, timely and accurately processing case information through the agency’s client data system, assisting Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists in all phases of case management to assist Visual Services consumers in reaching the goal of successful employment outcomes, as well as providing technical assistance to the program manager as needed. Applicant must be willing to perform all job related travel. Probationary period (or trial period if applicable) is required.
Background Check: Effective January 1, 2012, the successful candidates for positions at the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services will be required to pass an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation criminal investigation and background check.

Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities for performing skilled and complex technical work assisting professional rehabilitation staff in providing rehabilitation services to individuals with physical and mental disabilities, blindness or visual impairment.
The Rehabilitation Technician job family consists of three levels of work which are distinguished by the level of complexity and diversity of the specific job assignments, the extent of responsibility assigned and the expertise required for the completion of the duties assigned.
This is the specialist level where employees are assigned advanced level work of a complex and difficult nature. In addition to tasks performed at Level I and II, duties will include the technical management of the caseload, i.e. conducting annual reviews, conducting follow-up of consumer’s progress, maintaining contact with medical, educational, personnel and/or vendors and collecting and arranging data and information. May act as team leader in focus work groups and may be assigned special duties as assistant to unit program manager.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of three years of technical-clerical experience in a vocational rehabilitation program; or a bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation counseling, orientation and mobility, rehabilitation teaching or vocational evaluation; or a bachelor’s degree in education, a behavioral science or a closely related field and one year of experience in career counseling, job placement, habilitation or a rehabilitation related field.
