Introduction

Effective January 1, 2011 new employees to the Oklahoma State Department of Health will be placed on a bi-weekly payroll system.

Position provides clerical support for all health department services, including Women, Infants, and Children Nutrition program, Family Planning clinics, immunization services, Maternity Services, and STD/HIV clinics. Checks in clients at front window; enters data in computer database;  prepares, maintains, and files client records; performs complex Medicaid billing activities; provides support to administrative and other professional staff; answers telephones and provides public health information to the public.   

Other: Position requires possible response to public health emergencies including, but not limited to, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, or catastrophic events.  The Oklahoma State Department of Health is tobacco free.  Employees are prohibited from using tobacco products throughout all indoor and outdoor areas of premises under the control of the Oklahoma State Department of Health, in all vehicles on those premises, and in state vehicles in use for OSDH business anywhere.  Applicants may be subject to a background check.

• an ODH Form 92A (Request for Transfer/Promotion);
• an OPM-4B (Personal Data Summary Sheet);

please provide an explanation with your application.); and
• proof of education, certification, or licensure required for the position before the closing time/date.

Permanent and classified employees of another state agency, unclassified employees with reinstatement rights, or former employees of any Oklahoma state agency that have reinstatement rights submit the following:
• a cover letter that must include the title and PIN of the position, the announcement date, and a phone
number and mailing address where the applicant can be reached;

BASIC PURPOSE

Positions in this job family are assigned duties and responsibilities involving document production and management through a variety of manual or technological processes.  This may include preparing correspondence, reports or other documents, maintaining various filing systems, including computer records of various activities, reviewing and processing applications for permits or licenses, assisting agency customers with inquiries or problems concerning an assigned program area, processing various types of claims, requisitions, purchase orders and invoices for payment, and similar duties.

LEVEL DESCRIPTORS

The Administrative Technician job family consists of four levels of work which are distinguished by the complexity of job assignments, the extent of responsibility, and specific duties assigned, the level of expertise required for the completion of assigned tasks, and the responsibility for the supervision of others.

Level III:    
This is the specialist level where employees will independently perform most complex and technical duties, such as preparing presentations through manipulation of data, or preparing documents for audits or special reports.  Some responsibility may be assigned for the functional supervision of other employees on a limited basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Level III:  
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of two (2) years of clerical office experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
