The Information Services Division (ISD) is seeking a full-time Applications Support Administrator for our Oklahoma City location providing services to the Oklahoma State Department of Health. This is an unclassified position within Oklahoma state government. In addition to a comprehensive Benefits Packet the annual salary for this position is based on education and experience.
The primary purpose of this position is to support agency specific applications. This includes managing the administration, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of the application; researching problems to determine the appropriate solution; monitoring the release of application patches, upgrades and fixes and assessing the impact on the current environment; working with users to determine which upgrades are mandatory or urgent; migrating projects through the various environments; enforcing the documentation standards that have been established; developing a detailed project plan for migrating patches and fixes through the various environments; consulting with management on complex application projects, software, work methods or procedures. Individual will establish direction and standards while maintaining a high level of user trust, satisfaction and confidence. A complete understanding of technical principles, theories, concepts and technologies is required.
•Maintain best practices in the maintenance and monitoring of the application(s).
•Stay current on application maintenance packs, bundles, patches and fixes. Assist with impact analysis on affected applications and coordinate testing and implementation with applications development, database administration (DBA), quality assurance (QA), and functional testers.
•Provide assistance to application staff and end users in researching application errors. This may include researching possible solutions through vendor support. Coordinate testing and implementation of fixes with applications development, DBA, QA, and functional testers.
•Migration of tested patches and fixes through the defined environment instances to meet all technical standards.
•Coordinate with network the technical support groups to ensure optimum network performance and accessibility to the applications.
•Assist the security team in maintaining the security of the system.
•Assist with troubleshooting for the isolation of technical problems.
•Ensure accurate and timely execution of tasks necessary to meet production and project deadlines throughout the year and also ensure the Systems are functioning properly for the end users.
•Monitor and respond to assigned help desk cases meeting documented performance criteria.
•Monitor and prioritize associated work lists to ensure enhancements and fixes are prioritized.
•Develop and make presentations tailored to the varied audiences on system functionality (training) processing requirements and adherence to state statutory requirements and conduct formal and informal training.
•Assist in the testing and installation of patches, fixes, service packs or other system changes to assure no interruptions occur as a result of an update or change.
•Review the application installation documentation and other support documents for any changes to the system and update user documentation accordingly.
•Assist with developing and maintaining training manuals, documentation, schedules and distribute to the user groups.
•Direct development and distribution of functional process improvements, corrections and changes to provide assistance to users in system utilization and functionality.
•Develop reports including status reports as defined by management.
•Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Travel in and out of state will be required on an as needed basis to perform this job successfully.
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Computer Sciences, Business, Engineering or related discipline; with an information technology focus is preferred; and at least three years professional-level experience in development, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale data processing applications, preferably across multiple hardware and software platforms. Experience and knowledge in new computing architectures and implementation of complex data processing applications is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Application development, or closely related field for each required year of education.

•Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, and customers.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff is a must
•Strong analytical, problem solving, and project management skills.
•Demonstrated Experience and knowledge in system testing and implementation of complex systems.
•Experience and skill in preparing program and system documentation. Experience and ability to provide guidance and training to less experienced programming staff.
