Main Purpose of Job

This position is assigned to the Central Distribution Center to produce, print, process, and distribute output from the Department of Human Resources' (DHR) various automated systems statewide. This output includes client letters, benefits, various DHR administrations notices and systems report.

The working conditions for this position may require the employee to lift 50 pounds or more and climb ladders.

POSITION DUTIES

Prepares any necessary input (data disks, labels and/or custom designed mailings and inserts) to use with particular job printing runs; identifies job to be printed from queue on CRT; selects and indicates any needed breaks in the input file to effectively manage the print job; reviews operating instructions, any special job/program instructions and adjust equipment as necessary to process output; operates the Xerox DocuPrint 180/180MX High-Volume MICR Printer to produce reports, letters, and clients benefits as well as special Department mailings; monitors the equipment in operation and manipulate the controls making any changes necessary in accordance with prescribed limitations to continue operations such as adjusting alignments to insure readability of output; processes all client notices and special mailings using High Speed mail inserting systems; programs CRT for material to be processed on high-speed mail inserting systems; separates output reports for distribution within DHR Central, Local Department of Social Services and Health Departments; types labels and letters for distribution purposes; maintains a daily report distribution list for destinations; packages, seals and weigh all reports for the United Parcel Service pick-up; prepares paperwork needed by pre-sort vendor for daily mail pick-up; uses go-cart and All Purpose Container (APC) to move packages/mailings; uses UPS Tracking System to verify mailings and delivery; performs routine service checks and maintenance of equipment; maintains postage used and volume of material mailed in order to provide audit tails; performs manual inventory on a routine basis to provide for an uninterrupted supply of needed materials such as paper, varying sizes of envelopes and specific forms and inserts; and prepares requisitions to maintain appropriate supply inventories.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience scheduling or setting up data processing jobs for production, controlling data input and output or maintaining a tape library for multipurpose, multi-tasking computers.

Notes:

1.  Experience operating computer equipment for the purpose of data entry, word processing or maintaining information or performing clerical work involving reconciliation of data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2.  Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Computer Clerk and Assistant classifications or Computer Clerk and Assistant specialty codes in the General, Administrative, Clerical, and Office Services field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience of the operating and capabilities of multipurpose, multi-tasking computers and peripheral equipment: i.e. Xerox DocuPrint 180/18MX High Volume, MICR Printer BARR Enterprise, Print Server RJE System (RMT-245), BAUM 714 MP Auto fold fast folding machine, Dell Optiplex 320 Computer, Calculator, Pitney Bowes Flexible Productivity Series (12) Mailing Machine and E-Z Go Cart.
  • Experience using a computer keyboard and software applications for scheduling, input and output control or tape library management.
  • Experience conveying technical information to users and technical staff.
  • Experience following directions in technical documents detailing scheduling, input and output control or tape library management procedures.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
