Main Purpose of Job

The Opioid Misuse Prevention Program (OMPP) Coalition Coordinator is expected to work closely with the jurisdiction's Overdose Prevention Coordinator, the Drug Free Communities Coordinator, the MSPF (Maryland Strategic Prevention Framework) Coach, and the local Overdose Fatality Review Team.  The OMPP Coalition Coordinator will: (1) support the implementation of evidence-based prevention strategies detailed in the Coalition's Opioid Misuse Prevention Strategic Plan with fidelity to the selected strategy's model, (2) collaborate with the State OMPP Evaluator on conducting evaluations activities to determine the impact of the strategies implemented on the program goal and objectives; (3) utilize short and intermediate term process evaluation date to revise and enhance, as needed, the Coalition's strategic plan and prevention strategies, and on an on-going basis, to collect data, assess needs, build coalition capacity, and (4) strengthen the Coalition's strategic plan so that its Opioid Prevention effort is a dynamic rather than static process.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling or a related field.

Experience: Three years of professional experience in health services, two years of which must have been professional work related to treatment and services for persons with alcohol or other substance abuse addiction.

Notes:

1. Applicants may substitute a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a health or human service field for one year of the required general experience.

2. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus one additional year of professional experience in health services may be substituted for the specific degree.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
