Main Purpose of Job

This position involves data entry from the original copy of Safety Equipment Repair Orders (SERO) and compliance information into complex computer system for open or closed SERO ticket information. It also includes generating Notice of Suspension letters to be mailed to customers advising them of tag suspensions as well as the printing and processing of Tag Pick-Up Orders for law enforcement officers and transportation inspectors to pick up suspended vehicle registration plates.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: One year of experience keying large amounts of alpha, numeric or symbolic data from source documents into a computer or onto magnetic tape or disk according to a production schedule.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or in Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the clerical support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to keyboard at forty words per minute on a standard keyboard or one hundred keystrokes per minute on data entry equipment.

2. Employees in this classification must meet production standards established by the employing agency.

3. Candidates in in this classification will be subject to an initial drug screening and a criminal background investigation before permanent appointment can be made.  A criminal conviction may be grounds for rejection of the candidate.

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process for this recruitment will involve a review of each application.  Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be placed on an eligible list in the BEST, BETTER or QUALIFIED category for a period of at least one year.  The list will be used by the hiring manager to select the individual to fill the vacancy.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience as presented on your application and as they relate to the requirements of the position.  You may be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire.  Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
