Main Purpose of Job

This position coordinates all aspects of the Nurturing Program including recruitment, program development and implementation. Provides outreach to existing parenting programs and assesses on-going needs and communicates those needs to planning groups in Talbot County in order to promote healthy family functioning. Job duties include: Facilitating parent education groups, enlisting the support of schools, public and community agencies; conducting continual assessment of parent education needs in Talbot County; conducting public presentations and community outreach efforts to promote the program. Incumbent will consult and collaborate with local agencies to recruit potential families for the program. Provide direct social work services to parents and their families in order to develop nurturing and supportive relationships. Recruit facilitators for parenting program. This is a 32 hour per week, grant-funded, merit position with evening hours and occasional weekend work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Please describe in detail any job duties relating to the minimum qualifications stated below and include any computer software experience (Excel, CHESSIE, Powerpoint, Word etc.) used in the each of the positions you held.

Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience in the administration of a human services program or experience conducting studies and analyses of programs, procedures, practices and organizations.

Notes:

1. Additional professional or technical experience in the administration of a human services program or experience conducting studies and analyses of programs, procedures, practices and organizations may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Education at the graduate level at an accredited college or university in a human services related field may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester hours per year for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Administrative Officer classifications or Administrative Officer specialty codes in the General, Administrative, Clerical, and Officer Services field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications

Experience in working with groups, providing training to parents and families, and experience interacting with parents and families regarding positive nurturing experiences.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
