Main Purpose of Job

The incumbent is responsible for providing administrative and technical support to the Executive Director and Commissioners in fulfilling the Maryland Commission for Women's mission of advising government, advancing solutions and serving as a statewide resource to promote social, political and economic equality for women. The Assistant/Program Specialist consults with the Executive Director to coordinate and plan logistics for the Maryland Women's Hall of Fame, the Maryland Women of Tomorrow, and other programs and conferences sponsored by the Maryland Commission for Women. Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and maintain all appropriate fiscal and financial records. Reviews and analyzes policies and procedures for the Maryland Commission for Women (MCW) office to make recommendations and develops processes to enhance the management of MCW projects to ensure alignment with State and Federal guidelines. This position will be required to attend events some evenings and weekends.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

One year of the required experience must include program planning and/or project management for a human services program.

Limited to candidates willing to accept employment in Montgomery County.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
